Home Remedies

Dental Emergencies can easily be treated at home with the right knowledge should they arise during odd hours while you wait for the dentist’s office to open. Pain can be alleviated with over-the-counter-analgesics that can give you a good night’s sleep, immediately seeking help from your dentist as soon as possible. A hot compress can easily reduce swelling and alleviate pain along with gargling with lukewarm water for sores in the mouth.
Chipped tooth should be treated as soon as possible to allow the best chances of keeping the damaged teeth intact which can be repaired by a dentist. Pulled-out teeth with the roots intact should be re-positioned in the cavity where it came from but being a choking hazard especially for young children, it should be kept in milk preventing the roots from dying out. Moving teeth can be corrected if it is minimal by gargling with a water-hydrogen peroxide solution that kills the bacteria eating away at the tooth allowing the bone to grow back re-fastening the tooth in place.
All the above tips are for emergencies and should always be followed by a visit to the dentist who could best offer the proper remedy. With that in mind, teeth emergency first-aid kits are available that have all the necessary tools needed for such emergencies, a good idea if you have several kids who more often than not get their teeth injured for whatever reason.
